Gum Disease Treatment

Are you bleeding from your gums? Are your gums swollen and tender to touch? If so, then it is likely that you are suffering from the initial onset of gum disease, or periodontitis and need to it attended to, right away with adequate dental care. The initial stage is called Gingivitis and it is caused by a buildup of plaque, which coat your teeth after every meal. A failure to brush or floss regularly can cause plaque to build up, leading to bacterial toxins attacking the enamel of the tooth, which eventually leads to an onset of Periodontitis.

The initial stage is called Gingivitis and the initial symptoms are usually swollen gums along with bleeding from the same. The gum disease can be easily treated at this stage, and you would need to visit your dentist and get the right treatment. However, if left untreated, gingivitis can develop into full blown periodontitis, where the disease affects the underlying tissue and bone supporting the tooth, and finally causes it to fall out.

This is why it is important that you visit the dentist at the earliest, for a checkup and the dentist would be able to determine if you are suffering from gum disease and the current treatment you require. Smokers are generally more at risk of Periodontitis on account of the fact that smoking leads to additional plaque buildup in your mouth. However, with the right treatment, and adopting rigorous dental care at home, you should be able to prevent this disease. It is still important that you visit your dentist at the earliest and always remember to floss and brush after every meal to prevent plaque buildup.

Your dental care clinic should be able to effectively remove all the plaque and tar, but there is, as of to date, no permanent cure against gum disease except for taking good care of your teeth, at home. Visit us today, for a checkup and free appraisal.
